Tralee to Killarney.
The trip from Tralee to Killarney started with a drive
out on the north side of the Dingle Peninsula. For those
that have travelled this way, you'll recognize that
it means driving over Connor Pass. Fortunately
the rain had completely passed from the day before and I was
afforded fantastic views west out the peninsula and
the peaks of the mountains were even clear - no
clouds/fog at the top of the pass.
The road over Connor Pass was a case of baptism by
fire. If I wasn't ready for Irish roads before I
would be now. Narrow, twisty, and in this case wet,
meant that driving was going to be slow once I got
up to a certain level. In addition to the other
obstacles there was also the issue of not hitting
any of the sheep grazing by the side of the road.
I managed to make it though. No problems.

Looking west to Brandon Head. Yes, that's snow at the
top of those mountains. |

This is the view from Connor Pass. Well worth the
somewhat hairy drive. |

Focusing in on a region of the photo above. This
is a separate shot though - not a crop from
the previous image. |

Carving of Fungi the dolphin that resides in
Dingle Bay (harbor actually). I didn't go out
swimming in the water with him, but I hear it's
fun (if it isn't too damn cold). |

Part of 'downtown' Dingle. A lot of the Irish
towns look like this: close, brightly-colored
homes and storefronts. |

The Macgillycuddy's Reeks looking west. Despite
using the massive hood for this lens, there's still
a huge lack of contrast presumably due to the
flare. Sorry about that. Even an expensive lens
can't correct for photographer stupidity. However,
it was pretty much all I had to work with for location.
I also apologize for the file sizes for these, but I kept
the compression low to try and show more detail
in the shadows (as best I can with the JPEG
file format). |

This is a very, very old cedar on the grounds
of the Muckross House in Killarney. I think it
is two to three hundred years old. |

One of the many ponds in the valleys of the mountains
of western Ireland. Unfortunately I relied on the
matrix metering of the camera and it did a wonderful
job of exposing for the sky. Not particularly good
when you're trying to photograph a relatively dark
foreground. |
